Noise

Noise issues are one of the most common causes of tension between neighbours. We wouldn’t consider day to day or one-off noises to be anti-social behaviour but if it is persistent or happens at anti-social hours then get in touch.

Sometimes, there are vulnerable people and sensitive issues at the root of persistent household noises like door slamming or loud dogs. In those cases, our Tenancy Sustainment teams may provide support - we'll all work together to find the right solution.

Not all noise is anti-social

We don't consider the following to be ASB:

  • DIY or jobs in the garden
  • Household activities like moving around the home or using stairs, door slamming, noisy appliances, flushing toilets or pipework
  • Children playing or crying
  • One-off parties or celebrations
  • Dogs barking or pet noise

In these cases, we expect our customers to resolve these issues between themselves. Your neighbour may not know they're causing a disturbance. We recommend talking to them and working together to agree a resolution.

Reporting noise issues

If you’ve tried talking to your neighbour, and the noise is persistent or happens in the night-time please get in touch with us using the form below. We will need you to keep a record of when you hear the noise using diary sheets.

We will also ask you to report to your local authority environmental teams who hold a statutory duty to investigate noise complaints, we will work alongside them on a resolution.
