Plans to replace two sets of under-used underused garages with homes for six families have been given the green light.
East Suffolk Council has approved plans by Flagship – part of Bromford Flagship LiveWest (BFL) – to move ahead with building six affordable rent homes in Cranworth Close in Grundisburgh, near Woodbridge and Ipswich.
The homes will take the place of two separate garage sites on the close, and the plans also include improved parking across the close.
Callum James, Placemaking and Regeneration Manager at Flagship, said: "We're delighted to be able to move ahead with this project. The most important thing is that it means six families will finally get a home to call their own.
"Beyond that, we're going to address a need for more parking along Cranworth Close, by creating extra spaces for current and new residents and visitors."

"An under-used patch of hardstanding will be improved with new planting and cycle parking.
They will each have improved environmental measures.
A path linking the end of the close with Stoney Road will be kept.
Once built, the council will allocate the homes to families on the local housing waiting list, and they will be managed by Flagship housing association, Newtide.
Flagship will be in touch with the community to discuss the next steps.
