The organisations helping us reduce our carbon footprint

Over the past few years, we’ve been working in partnership with local and national organisations to provide tenants with heating solutions which are energy efficient, low carbon and don’t cost the earth to run. We’ve rounded up a few examples from across Flagship Group, some of which you may already have in your own home!

Pioneering technology with Q-Bot

Since October 2020, we’ve worked with Q-Bot to trial their robotic technology. Their clever robot remotely installs underfloor heating, keeping homes warmer and making them more energy efficient.

Those who have already received the insulation have found their homes to be much warmer, and 88% said they’d recommend Q-Bot to others. This partnership has helped us move one step closer towards achieving an EPC rating of C for all homes, while helping tenants save an average of £150 per year on their energy bills.

Heat Pumps with Finn Geotherm and Gasway

Thanks to our work with Finn Geotherm and Gasway, we’ve installed Ground Source Heat Pumps in 113 of our homes in Felixstowe. The new £1.4m communal heating system led to a huge reduction in carbon emissions, lowered tenants’ heating bills and cut their energy usage by 70%!

Saving money with Green Energy Switch

In 2021, we partnered with Green Energy Switch, an award-winning energy switching service that provides tenants with free energy advice. Making wise choices about who provides our energy helps us all work towards a greener future (while also saving around £230 a year on energy bills!)

Solar panels with Blueflame

We benefit from a glorious 4,380 hours of sunlight every year, so it only makes sense to harness that energy to power our homes. Since August 2021, we’ve been working alongside Blueflame to install solar panels on 59 of our homes in Wickham Market in Suffolk.

It’s still early days, but already this project helping to reduce carbon emissions by 82.5 tonnes and is saving tenants more than £150 per year on their energy bills.

And we're not done yet!

Following positive feedback from our tenants who have already benefitted from these pilot schemes, Flagship Group are already laying the groundwork for more renewable energy initiatives in 2022, including:

  • Working with Gasway and Tomlinsons to install a new Ground Source Heat Pump system for 32 homes
  • Identifying a further 2000 homes to receive Q-Bot’s underfloor insulation
  • Targeting 500 homes that would benefit from solar panels

On top of this, we’ll be working with Anglian Water to help tenants understand how being savvy with water can be beneficial for both the planet, and the purse strings! We’ll be giving away handy water-saving tools, like shower timers and shower heads, and you’ll be able to find out more about these on our website when the scheme goes live.
